Modgepodge of Miscellany

Tuesday, I had a terrible day. My sales at work were bad (Teavana is VERY competitive in such things), it was grey and rainy, I was tired, and the mallwalkers were creepy as always. For perspective, the best thing that happened to me was that Burton’s included some free bread with my dinner, even though they don’t usually do so with take-out orders. That’s right, the highlight of my day was free bread. I had been text-ranting to a good friend of mine (we’ll call him A) throughout the day. Towards the end of the night, as I was closing up shop, I got a text from a number I didn’t recognize saying “You’re a lovely person! :-)”. I was confused, flattered, and slightly creeped out until I received a second text a few minutes later from a number I did know (a friend of A’s) containing similar sentiments. A few minutes later, I got a third text (again from a number I didn’t know) informing me that I am a warm-hearted and caring person. It turns out A had been out at dinner with a group of people, some of whom I am friendly with, and had told them to text me and make me feel better in my day of terribleness. And honestly, it made me feel better than I could ever explain.

The moral of the story is: never underestimate the power of a single text.
